Christmas eve candlelight communion service

Tree of Life, The Conexion Church, and United will all gather for worship on December 24th at 7:00 PM.  Members, choirs, and pastors from all three communities of the people of God will raise the roof in praise and joy at God’s great and wonderful gift of the birth of Jesus!

Lessons and Carols will include readers from the tree churches and musical groups from all three as well.  The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated as we gather around the table of our Lord.  Truly we will be people who come from the north and south and east and west to sit at Christ’s table.  We will come from many backgrounds and histories to share the cup of Christ.

The service will conclude in candlelight and singing “Silent Night, Holy Night.”  (Following the service there will be an Open House in Fellowship Hall as we fellowship with one another and enjoy finger food prepared by members of the three congregations.  Please see related article below.)

Joy Bible Study

Here we are again in the Advent season.  Signs of Christmas are everywhere with all the bright lights and Christmas trees going up.  During this season of hope let us take time to welcome the Christ Child.

The Joy Bible Study will celebrate the Christmas season at the home of Doris Bottom on December 16th at 10:30 AM.  Hostesses are Doris and Marilyn Rich.  Joyce Matheny will lead lesson four: “Carrying in Our Bodies Jesus’ Acts of Healing, Reconciliation, and Love.”  This lesson focuses on Paul’s understanding of the community of faith and its continuing acts of healing and love.

Our altruistic project for December is the Methodist Children’s Home in Enterprise.  Gift cards were sent to the children for Christmas.

McKenna's Place -- Salt Shaker's December Choice

Port Orange is the next destination for the Salt Shakers in December.  McKenna’s Place is the restaurant we will visit on Wednesday, December 17th at 11:30 AM.  McKenna’s is located at 3761 Nova Road in Port Orange.  It is in the shopping center containing Bealls.

McKenna's Place is a family owned, independently operated restaurant in Port Orange, FL. We have been established in the restaurant business since 1993. We indulge in seafood, sports and spirits. McKenna's Port Orange offers a full bar and 24 beer taps featuring the best local and out of town Craft Beer Breweries. Our menu consists of seafood, burgers, pasta, salads, ribs, our famous crunchy fish sandwich, and the best wings in town. When you come in, please don't hesitate to introduce yourself. We would love to meet you!

From their websiteSalt Shakers is a mixed group that visits area restaurants once each month.  There are couples and singles, women and men, and those that gather change from month-to-month depending on peoples’ schedules.  Ten people lunched at Peach Valley Café in November!  There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex where you can indicate you will attend, so a large enough table for our group can be arranged.
